Product Abstract: Benzoin is the gum resin which exudes after cutting into the bark of the tree. This process can continue for approximately 15-20 years. The resin is then dissolved in wood alcohol. The gum resin is dark reddish-brown; thick, sticky, and has a sweet, balsamic vanilla aroma. It is also known as Friar's Balsam. It has been used for thousands of years in the East as a medicine and incense to drive away evil spirits. Used by English herbalists. Also used by Chinese herbalists for heating and drying properties. It is recommended that you heat your bottle of oil in a water bath, allow for the constituents to liquefy and then use as this oil can be quite thick.
